(A narrow vertical slit between two ruined walls. Blue flame at bottom.)
Below: glowing insect eyes. Above: dripping slime. The camera locks portrait. To aim at a bug clinging to the left wall, you drag up-left — but the right side of the screen is reserved for the “look behind” button.
The Merchant’s hood fills the middle zone. His coat drapes off the bottom edge. “Stranger. In this portrait view… they’ll always come from above or below. Never the sides.” Leon scrolls a vertical inventory: Handgun, TMP, Riot Gun, Rocket Launcher (grayed out). He buys a First Aid Spray . The transaction sound chimes.
The Vertical Plaga
(Leon rappelling down a cave shaft. The rope is the vertical spine of the screen.)
(A spiral staircase wrapping around the screen’s center. Saddler’s mutated form looms in the top fifth — only his giant eye and tentacles visible.) SADDLER: “Can you see your death, Kennedy? It’s just above your thumb.” The boss fight is vertical only . Tentacles rise from the bottom of the screen. The eye drops Plaga pods from the top. Leon must swipe left/right to dodge — but aiming requires tapping the eye.
The Merchant’s hand reaches up from the bottom edge, holding a green herb. MERCHANT: “See you in the widescreen remaster, stranger.” [END] resident evil 4 mobile edition 360x640
(Horizontal widescreen letterbox suddenly opens to full 360x640 — sky, sun, mountains.)
Ada’s rocket launcher appears as a tiny icon at the very top edge. Leon stretches his thumb to reach it.
One Novistador lands on his back. Only its mandibles and one compound eye appear, filling the middle of the screen. “Get—off—” He taps the knife button repeatedly. The eye bursts. The bug tumbles into the darkness below. (A narrow vertical slit between two ruined walls
(Vertical corridor. Stairs winding upward. A red laser sight dances on the wooden wall.)
(Golden hour. Water reflects at bottom. Stairs descend into darkness at top.)
He tilts. The laser rises. A sack-cloth head fills the upper third of the screen. “¡Matarlo!” Leon fires. The head snaps back. Blood splatters the top edge — a permanent smudge until you wipe the screen (a real mobile mechanic). The camera locks portrait
(A dark, circular well dominates the top half of the screen. Muddy stone. Rain streaks down the glass.)
