They’re not asking you to be a scientist. On the SAT, this theme usually appears in paired passages or a social science essay. It refers to: How individuals use their own lived experiences, identity, and cultural background to understand human nature. | If the question asks about… | Pick
Good luck, and don’t let the jargon scare you. 👍 Edit: Yes, I know the essay is now optional/removed in some formats. This is for those taking older practice tests or school-specific versions that still have social science passages with this theme.
