A week later, Raka and Laras met at a tiny coffee shop in Pasar Minggu. She was smaller than he imagined, with calloused fingers from drawing her own webcomic. She brought printed pages — not for him to translate, but to co-create .

Too stiff.

His first attempt: “Aku mendengar suaramu, hanya itu sudah cukup.” By day, he was a quiet university student

A simple sentence. But its soul was tricky.

“Kak, sorry for texting late. I’m the admin of KomikLoversID. Your translation of ‘Yuki no Hana’ made me cry for three days. In a good way. Can I send you my version of panel 22? Just for fun.”

That night, he posted the chapter with a new credit line: “Translation by GundalaRawe & Laras.” She was smaller than he imagined, with calloused

It was perfect. Punchy. Poetic. Indonesian.
