So, where does that leave your PCB design workflow? Can you still run KiCad, the world’s favorite open-source EDA suite, on Windows 7?

The short answer is —with a few important caveats. The Last Compatible Version If you try to download the latest KiCad 8 or 9 installer, you will hit a wall. The newest releases require Windows 10 or 11. However, the KiCad team provides excellent long-term support for older stable branches.

Just don’t expect to collaborate on the latest KiCad 9 projects, and please—keep that machine off the internet.
