Mitsuo goes pale. He knows about the accident. He knows about Linda. But he’s never said a word.
“You remembered the station,” Linda says softly.
“Kaga…” Banri starts.
“I’m scared,” Kouko admits. “That one day, you’ll remember everything, and the me you chose won’t be enough.” Golden Time Episode 5
Banri gasps and stumbles backward, knocking over a lantern. The inn’s power cuts. In the sudden darkness, Kouko reaches for him, but Banri is already running outside.
Banri unfolds the map. His hands shake. In the corner, written in childish handwriting: Banri + Linda’s Great Adventure. No backing out!

“Were you?” Kouko’s voice is quiet but sharp. “Because the way he’s looking at you right now? That’s not how you look at a friend .”
Nana immediately zeroes in on Banri. “So you’re the amnesiac. Cute. Are you the one making my brother miserable?” Banri stammers a no. Mitsuo groans. Nana reveals she’s already met Kouko—and liked her. “She’s a beautiful disaster. Perfect for you, Mitsuo.”
Linda smiles—a sad, beautiful, final smile. She folds the map, presses it into Banri’s hand, and walks away into the dark. Mitsuo follows her, just to make sure she’s okay. But he’s never said a word
The upbeat theme song plays, but the visuals are slightly different: a single, fractured frame of a younger Banri and Linda on a school rooftop flashes for a split second. Act One: The Uninvited Guest
Before Mitsuo can respond, appears at the station entrance. She’s holding an umbrella, even though it’s not raining. She looks at Banri, then at Mitsuo. The three of them stand in a triangle of silence.
He turns to Kouko. “And I choose you. Not because I don’t have a past. But because you’re the one holding my hand in the present.”
