Montalban's hideout can be typically anywhere in (modern day) Mexico or Panama

Monty is usually located in one of these places (in order of probability):
1) North of Vera Cruz,
2) near Villa Hermosa,
3) On the south or southwest coast of Bay of Honduras,
4) the East Coast of Mexico south of modern day Cancun or in Belize.

look for seamarks on the coast
The game often has several landmarks with the same name

Even though they're not on the map they will guide you to Lost Cities and Montalban's Hideout.

It's trial and error when there are more than one in the area. Drop anchor, head inland a bit, and if you see an Arch Rock, Deserted Cabin, Stone Head or Indian Totem you're in the right area. If all you see are geysers and dead trees you're not in the right area. This works well with 1 or 2 map pieces as well.

Another trick is to try to walk through the geysers and dead trees. If you can walk right through them, you are not in the area represented by the map.

Geysers are randomly spread around so not reliable as markers.
Use telescope both while sailing and on land.

waters highlighted in red are the most frequent areas to find named pirates.

Map uses the Traditional Nation colors

Dutch - Orange
England - Red
France - Blue
Spain - yellow

Generic help for where is any of the Lost cities or Named pirates
located.

Frankenstein-s Army -2013- -

However, Raaphorst leans into the video-game logic of the genre. The film moves from one "level" to the next—a dark corridor, a surgery room, a furnace pit—with the pacing of a survival horror game like Resident Evil 7 or Outlast . If you accept the premise as a visceral roller-coaster ride rather than a coherent war drama, the flaws become more forgivable. Upon its release, Frankenstein’s Army received mixed critical reviews but found an immediate home among horror enthusiasts and genre filmmakers. Its influence can be seen prominently in the 2018 video game Wolfenstein: The New Order and The New Colossus , which feature similar concepts of Nazi-era dieselpunk robots and cyborgs. The film’s visual language—the fusion of flesh with industrial machinery—has become a touchstone for "cablepunk" and retro-futuristic horror.

For director Richard Raaphorst, the film remains his most famous work, a calling card of uncompromising imagination that proves sometimes a simple story is merely a clothesline upon which to hang the most spectacularly grotesque laundry imaginable. Frankenstein’s Army (2013) is not a good film in the traditional sense. Its characters are paper-thin, its dialogue is forgettable, and its found-footage gimmick is more hindrance than help. But as a gallery of nightmarish practical effects and relentless B-movie energy, it is essential viewing. If you are the kind of horror fan who cheers at inventive kill scenes, appreciates the art of latex and gears, and doesn't mind a little shaky-cam with your carnage, this Soviet-meets-Frankenstein romp is a hidden gem of the 2010s. It is a film made by a madman, about madmen, and for those who are just a little bit mad themselves. frankenstein-s army -2013-

In the crowded graveyard of direct-to-video horror, few films have achieved the cult status of Richard Raaphorst’s 2013 feature debut, Frankenstein’s Army . While it arrived during the peak—and subsequent fatigue—of the found-footage genre, the film distinguished itself not through narrative innovation but through a singular, breathtaking vision of practical body horror. Part war film, part supernatural nightmare, Frankenstein’s Army is a relentless descent into a dieselpunk hell, remembered less for its story and more for its menagerie of unforgettable, grotesque creations. Plot: A Mission Gone Horribly Wrong Set in the waning days of World War II, the film follows a platoon of Soviet soldiers who stumble upon a hidden Nazi stronghold deep in the German countryside. Tasked with a routine reconnaissance mission, the soldiers—led by the idealistic Lieutenant Dimitri (Alexander Mercury) and documented by their camera-wielding comrade, Dmitri (a nod to the "found footage" device)—soon discover the village is not abandoned. However, Raaphorst leans into the video-game logic of

Instead, they find the horrifying laboratory of the insane Dr. Viktor Frankenstein (Karel Roden), a descendant of the infamous baron. Having abandoned the idea of a single perfect creature, this Frankenstein has channeled Nazi obsession with mechanized power into creating an army. The result is a nightmarish brigade of "Zombots"—soldiers reanimated and fused with steam-powered engines, circular saws, cannons, and propellers. As the Soviets are hunted through the catacombs and factories below the village, they must survive not only the doctor’s creations but also the escalating madness of their own mission. To discuss Frankenstein’s Army without focusing on its creatures is to ignore its reason for existence. Director Richard Raaphorst, a Dutch special effects artist known for his work on films like Beyond Re-Animator , spent years developing the visual style of this film. The result is a masterpiece of practical effects. For director Richard Raaphorst, the film remains his

Montalban's hideout is literally impossible to find

Many things in that vicinity are hard to find, such as the Lost Civilizations.

One trick I've learned recently might be useful. When you first anchor, look around to see if there are any landmarks, and if you don't, scoot.

If you do, walk into one. Serious. If you walk through it, scoot. "Real" landmarks are solid. Others are "mirages".

If you can't walk through it, then start looking around for the next landmark. Try to walk through it, and if you do, go back to the previous landmark and try another direction.
