We see Olivia fall in love with the charming, wealthy (Max Irons), marry him, and slowly realize she’s married a monster. The season follows her transformation from a hopeful young woman into the cold matriarch we meet in the original story. The Good: Why This Works 1. Jemima Rooper as Olivia Rooper is phenomenal. She makes young Olivia sympathetic without erasing her eventual villainy.
