She didn’t scream. She’d been trained not to. But her hand moved to the pulse-pistol at her hip.
“She’s not wrong, you know.”
The word “Unknown” felt like a lie. It had been scrawled across every report, every interrogation, every autopsy of the rogue units for the past three weeks. And now, it was staring him in the face again, mocking him from a dead machine’s final broadcast.
Then he spoke again. But his lips didn’t move.
